After poll grind, breather for some, business as usual for others
With the exit polls predicting a clear majority for the Congress in the Assembly elections, many political leaders and prominent persons across the state reached the local residence of former Chief Minister and Congress stalwart Bhupinder Singh Hooda to meet him.

Hooda too spent the day chatting with them and receiving feedback about the polling trends of their respective areas. Youngsters in a considerable number too arrived at his house and were seen clicking selfies with Hooda.
A delegation of office-bearers of the Rice Millers and Dealers Association also called on the former CM and apprised him of their grievances. Hooda assured them of redressing their grievances when the Congress came to power. He left for Delhi in the evening.
Earlier, Hooda while talking to mediapersons said the Congress would start implementing its election manifesto immediately after forming the government in the state. “Exit polls may have come after the voting, but the public had already made up its mind to oust the BJP from power and we had an inkling of this,” he added.
In reply to a question, Hooda said the BJP derailed the state’s development and left the people suffering from poor law and order, unemployment, inflation and bad governance in the past decade. It misled the people by telling lies and making hollow promises, he added.
“The state was number-one in per capita income, per capita investment, employment generation and respect for sportspersons and farmers during the previous The Congress regime but the BJP government made Haryana a leader in unemployment, crime, drugs, corruption and inflation. It worked to harass every section of the society instead of redressing their grievances,” said the former CM.
Hooda claimed that the law and order situation had gone bad to worse in the state as criminals are perpetrating crimes fearlessly. “It seems as if there is no government in the state. The situation will change when the Congress government is formed. We will not allow crime and drugs to exist in Haryana,” he promised.
The former CM expressed gratitude to all the voters of Haryana. “Overall, the polling passed off peacefully in the state, and the people voted with their discretion,” he added.
