Sirmaur district claimed top honours at the State-Level School Chess Championship held in Sundernagar, Mandi, from October 22 to October 25. Students from Sirmaur secured both the first and third positions, while Shimla district finished second.

Aditya Sharma, a senior student at Shamsher Senior Secondary School, Nahan, led Sirmaur’s success by winning the championship title. Hailing from Naya village in the Shillai region, Aditya’s accomplishment is remarkable, especially given his humble farming background. His parents, Naresh and Tara Sharma, work in agriculture.

School principal Rajkumar Chauhan praised Aditya’s exceptional performance, which has brought pride to the school and earned him a place in the upcoming National Chess Championship in Gujarat this November. The school community celebrated his achievement and extended their best wishes for his future success.
