New Delhi, August 18

West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has urged Home Minister Amit Shah to provide protection to lakhs of migrant workers from West Bengal working in Odisha from violence and social discrimination in the aftermath of Bangladesh crisis.

In a letter to Shah on Sunday, Chowdhury said lakhs of migrant workers of West Bengal were involved in informal sectors and were facing social discrimination and physical violence in the aftermath of Bangladesh political crisis.

“For an example, in Odisha, a large number of migrant workers have been the victims of social discrimination, subjected to various physical violence without any provocation, much to the dismay of the people of West Bengal,” he said in the letter to Shah. — TNS
