Accept demands or face protest: Pensioners to govt

Members of the Punjab State Pensioners’ Union and Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association sent a demand letter to the government.
Their demands include Rs 2,000 per month medical allowance, re-introduction of cashless health scheme, to fix new pension by multiplying the old pension with a factor of 2.59 as is done for the working employees, to release pending arrears of dearness allowance.
Union leader Madan Gopal said if their demands were not met in the first week of August, the pensioners from across the state would gather in Mohali for demonstration.
