ABVP holds protest against Kolkata brutality
Ludhiana, August 20
In a demonstration of solidarity and outrage, Ludhiana chapter of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a protest at Aarti Chowk, Ludhiana, demanding swift justice for the RG Kar Hospital, Kolkata, rape victim. The protest saw a significant turnout of students from various colleges and universities across Ludhiana, reflecting the widespread unrest among the youth over the heinous crime.
The demonstrators lit diyas in front of the victim’s photograph as a symbol of their support. Addressing the protesters, ABVP State Secretary Manmeet Sohal emphasised the organisation’s unwavering commitment to securing justice for the youth.
“Such heinous crimes are utterly unacceptable, and we will not rest until justice is served,” he added.
ABVP State Joint Secretary Vishwaas Vaid expressed deep concern over the handling of the case by the West Bengal Government, alleging carelessness and political unwillingness had compounded the tragedy. “The negligence in addressing the issue is alarming. We demand prompt and decisive action,” Vaid said.
ABVP City Secretary Haritik Puri echoed the sentiments. “The youth are outraged. We demand swift justice for the victim,” Puri said.
