  • What made you take up this show?

Everything seemed right about this show – be it the content, the people associated with it, the channel and the character I essay. All these factors put together made me say yes to it immediately.

  • What makes Story 9 Months Ki unique?

It’s a progressive story and it is for the first time that the concept of IVF is being explored on the television screen. We usually hear people talking about the choices and opportunities available to women, but here is a show that projects a strong woman who is not just well educated, but has made a mark for herself as a successful entrepreneur and has decided to become a single mother through IVF.

  • Tell us more about your role…

I play Sarangdhar Pandey, an aspiring writer with a progressive mind. He loves Gulzar and comes across as a modern Robinhood. He is impulsive, but evolved and idealistic in his approach. What’s most charming is how he wears his heart on his sleeve.

  • How is this role different from anything that you have done before?

The character of Sarangdhar is different in so many ways. Be it his life journey, his personal and interpersonal relations, family dynamics and his equation with other characters. The geographical setting of the show also lends a different flavour to the role I play.

  • Did you draw any inspiration from anyone to play Sarangdhar?

Not particularly. But I took a lot of inspiration from today’s young voices, especially from students or from those who take a stand on the existing patriarchy in the society, or even those who generally speak their mind and strive to make the world a better place.

  • How is your rapport with your co-stars, especially Sukirti Kandpal?

The entire unit is like family. Sukirti is an actor of discipline. She comes well-rehearsed and fully prepared on the sets!
