AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Gupta on Monday lashed out at the incumbent government of the Congress, and the preceding SAD-BJP regime in Punjab for allegedly doing nothing against the rampant abuse of narcotic drugs and substance in the State.
Taking part in the discussion on Narcotics Drug and Substance Abuse (Amendment) Bill in Rajya Sabha, Gupta expressed concern that the youth of the Punjab have been pushed towards drug abuse.
He said influential people during both the regimes in the State promoted this social malady. “They were allegedly part of the drug trade’s nexus.”
Punjab goes to Assembly polls early next year. AAP has emerged as an important political player in the State.
With Punjab Congress allegedly in disarray, and the Akali politics in fragmentation, AAP smells an opportunity to strike gold in the elections, and form a government.
