Vijender Gupta, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly, today criticised the AAP government for its “lack of commitment” to development projects in the Capital.

‘Not a rupee spent on development by some MLAs’

Despite the party’s assurances of providing world-class services to Delhi’s 30 million people, many of their MLAs have not spent even a single rupee on development in their constituencies. — Vijender Gupta, LoP in the Delhi Assembly

Gupta claimed that the AAP representatives were misleading residents with grand promises of transforming Delhi into a city like Singapore, London or Paris.

Gupta cited information obtained through an RTI request from the Delhi Government’s Urban Development Department, revealing that many AAP MLAs had failed to utilise their allocated funds for development.

He highlighted specific examples, including Pawan Sharma, AAP MLA from Adarsh Nagar, and Satyendar Jain, former minister and MLA from Shakur Basti, who did not spend any of their Rs 4 crore allocation. Similarly, Devli MLA Prakash Jarwal managed to spend only Rs 19.36 lakh, while Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan spent Rs 1.17 crore on development projects.
