Amritsar North AAP MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh today urged Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to hold a special Assembly session on three issues, including 2015 sacrilege and firing incidents, legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) on all crops and sanitation issues grappling the holy city.
The MLA personally handed over his submission to the Speaker and asked the latter to grant him 40 minutes to speak on the matter so that some concrete steps could be taken in this regard.
Citing the reference of a special session convened in September 2018 on the report of Justice Ranjit Singh Committee, he said status of Bargari sacrilege, Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan firing cases, which occurred during the tenure of the SAD-BJP regime in 2015, ought to be discussed in the Vidhan Sabha as justice had not been delivered so far.
He pointed out that due to political intervention, cases investigated by the CBI were withdrawn and the trial was transferred from Faridkot to Chandigarh.
The MLA emphasized discussion on legal guarantee for the MSP, crop diversification, debt waiver and relief for crop loss. He also flagged poor sanitation conditions prevailing in Amritsar as residents were even devoid of safe drinking water. The MLA added that absence of waste management had turned the holy city into a dump yard.
