AAP leaders join Congress
New Delhi: Several senior leaders and office-bearers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Badli Assembly joined the Congress in the presence of Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav at Rajiv Bhawan on Tuesday. The leaders cited growing disillusionment with AAP, accusing it of corruption and failing to act in the best interests of the public. Yadav assured the new members that they would receive significant positions within the party to bolster its strength in the Badli constituency. Other leaders who joined the Congress included Sarvesh Kumar, Ram Gopal, Chotte Khan, Vikram Singh, Deepak, Nikhil, Pradeep Kumar, Arun, Feroze Fauji and Kapil. TNS
Govt mulls digital RCs
New Delhi: Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on Tuesday chaired a meeting with representatives from the Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Associations and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers to address issue of delays in vehicle registration, non-compliance at multi-brand outlets and backlogs in High-Security Registration Plate requests. He addressed the issue of delays in receiving Registration Certificates (RCs) for vehicles, despite dealers having access to self-registration facilities, official said. He explored the introduction of digital RCs to streamline vehicle registration. TNS
Cluster bus catches fire
New Delhi: A low-floor cluster electric bus caught fire on Tuesday while charging in North Delhi’s Burari Bus Depot. No casualties were reported in the incident, officials said. The bus was put on charge when it caught fire. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, such an incident occurs due to an increase in the temperature level of batteries, an official of the transport department said. PTI
