AAP Faridabad candidate joins saffron party
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the district received a setback with its candidate Pravesh Mehta (75) joining the BJP this evening.
He announced that he would work to ensure the victory of BJP candidate Vipul Goel from this segment. Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar and Goel were among those present on the occasion and they welcomed the joining of Mehta into the party.
Mehta, who had joined the AAP three years ago after leaving the BJP, had also been associated with the Congress and INLD. A former municipal corporator, Mehta had started his political career with the BJP, it is revealed.
Describing it as a vital development, the BJP candidate from Faridabad, Vipul Goel, said it was a shot in the arm for him.
Mehta took part in a public meeting and canvassed in Old Faridabad in support of the BJP candidate. Goel said that Mehta would be given proper respect in the party.
Describing this as unfortunate, Pramod Manocha, AAP spokesperson, said that it is good that such persons should exit the party so that they are unable to use it as a platform to build their political career.
