Having had a fall during his door-to-door campaign two days ago, AAP candidate from Ward no 40 Varesh Mintu has suffered spinal injuries and has been advised a complete bed rest for 15 days.
Ex-councillor Mintu remained hospitalised for two days after which he has now returned home but he cannot move his head, neck and back. “I was going for a campaign on Saturday in a house where some granite work was being done. A slab fell on my head after which my lower body got completely numb. I was immediately rushed to a hospital. The doctors told me that I had suffered an injury in head, neck and my third vertebra and the only treatment for this was a complete bed rest”, he said.
With a collar around his neck and lying on a motorised bed at his place, Mintu said he was hurt but not morally shattered. “Now that I cannot go out, my supporters and well-wishers are coming to my place and telling me to relax and take rest. They have said they will all campaign for me and ensure my victory. I have been hearing such supporting statements by voters of my ward. They have helped me get away with the initial panic which had gripped me post the accident”, he said.
Mintu, who had left the BJP to join AAP, said his wife Rajni had started going out and meeting people. Atul Bhagat, son of minister Mohinder Bhagat, too has come to my aide and taken over the campaign.
