Gidderbaha/Muktsar, Aug 26

Senior BJP leader and former Finance Minister Manpreet Badal today termed the allegations made by former SAD leader Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon as the frustrations of a man who had never won an election.

Manpreet said on the phone today, “We both (I and Sukhbir) belong to the same family and same village. However, our political ideologies and political parties are different. It doesn’t matter if we socially greet each other. I am a BJP worker and the BJP is my home, now and forever. I will faithfully follow the party’s instructions and relentlessly work towards strengthening the party.”

He added that, “Dimpy wanted to leave SAD as he was foreseeing his defeat in Gidderbaha. The SAD vote bank is shifting to the BJP, which rattled him. It is an open secret in Gidderbaha that Dimpy had been prostrating before the AAP for the past few months and looking for an excuse to leave SAD. The BJP has gone quite deep in rural Punjab and people are elated with the schemes launched by the Centre. The SAD on the other hand is a sinking ship. People have seen the other parties as well.”

Asked if he would contest the Gidderbaha bypoll, Manpreet said, “It depends on the party’s national leadership.”
