9 new cases in Mohali, 5 cured

With the surfacing of nine fresh cases of Covid-19, the district count has gone up to 340. Five more patients have recovered from the disease. With this, the total number of cured persons has risen to 253.
Those infected with the virus are a 62-year-old man from Sector 127, a 68-year-old man from Sector 97, a 42-year-old man from Sector 78, a 32-year-old man from Phase 9, a 30-year-old man from Sector 80, a 52-year-old woman from Phase 9, a 48-year-old woman from Phase 10, a 32-year-old man from Zirakpur and a 19-year-old boy from Dappar in Mohali district.
The patients have been admitted to the Covid care centre at Gian Sagar Hospital in Banur.
The Civil Surgeon, Dr Manjit Singh, said five patients had recovered and were discharged from the hospital today. He said those discharged were a 59-year-old woman and a man, both residents of Baltana, a 25-year-old man from Phase 4, Mohali, a 46-year-old man from Lalru and a 50-year-old man from Khanpur village in Mohali district.
Dr Manjit Singh said the district had so far recorded 340 positive cases. While 253 patients had been cured, there were 81 active cases. Six persons had died of the disease.
Meanwhile, Mohali SDM Jagdeep Sehgal, who had tested positive for the virus, has been isolated at Purab Premium Apartments in Sector 88, Mohali.
Dr Harmandeep Kaur, nodal officer, said the SDM’s condition was fine. She said teams had been deputed to trace the contacts of the PCS officer.
