The state government will launch a drive to inoculate livestock against foot and mouth disease (FMD) from tomorrow. A total of 816 teams have been formed to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of the vaccination drive.
Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian said 65,47,800 doses of the FMD vaccine had been produced for the mass drive.
He directed the department authorities to complete the vaccination drive by the end of November. He said the vaccine would be administered free of cost to the entire livestock population in the state. He also asked officials to maintain the cold chain effectively and educate livestock farmers about the benefits of the drive.
