8,15,033 eligible to cast vote for panchayat elections in Jalandhar dist today

The Jalandhar administration has ensured proper arrangements at all 1,209 polling stations for the elections to 695 gram panchayats scheduled on October 15.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal stated that the district administration was committed to conducting transparent and fair elections. He said 195 panchayats had already been selected unanimously and for the remaining 695 panchayats, voting would take place on Tuesday from 8am to 4pm.

He added that the district has 8,15,033 voters, including 4,20,756 men and 3,94,268 women. Over 10,000 polling staff are on duty to ensure smooth and proper conduct of voting.

Dr Aggarwal also said the counting of votes would begin immediately after the polling concludes. He urged all voters to reach the polling stations and exercise their right to vote.

The Deputy Commissioner said any citizen can cast their vote by presenting their voter card, Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, MGNREGA job card, driving licence, ration card or blue card at the polling station.

He also said following the directions of the State Election Commission, strict monitoring will be conducted at the polling stations. He emphasised that free and fair elections are the administration’s top priority. While encouraging the election staff to perform their duties diligently, he said they should take pride in being part of such an important task.

The Deputy Commissioner urged voters to cast their votes without any fear or greed, emphasising that voters should maintain peace and discipline while voting and contribute to the success of the democratic process.
