As many as 800 students of various wings of Victoria Public Senior Secondary School were felicitated during a two-day annual function that concluded on the school campus at Lehra village near here today.

Surinder Pal Sofat, Sanjay Dhand and Sapna Dhand chaired different sessions while Vikas Krishan Sharma, president, Ahmedgarh Municipal Council and Bhagwati Prasad, DGM, Shreyans Industries Limited, were guests of honor in different sessions.

Principal Bipan Sethi said an elaborate two-day cultural programme was held under the banner of Navrang. Around 750 students participated in performances presented on the occasion. Social evils including drug abuse, begging, disintegration of families due to immigration of youth to foreign countries, illiteracy and gender bias were highlighted through plays, skits, choreographies and folk songs, which were appreciated by the audience.

Appreciating the role of private educational institutes of the region in providing quality education to students of rural areas at affordable rates, speakers including Sharma and Parsad called upon residents to extend ideal parentage to their wards.

“Unfortunately, residents have stopped providing required parentage to their wards during their teens. Us humans require more intensive upbringing than any other living organism in this universe,” Sharma said.
