Amritsar, July 6

Having covered a distance of nearly 2,500 km across three states in 14 days, and enduring various challenges along the way, the Seventh Interfaith “Ride for Peace” motorcycle rally returned home to a rousing reception on Saturday.

The biggest challenge that we faced was very low oxygen saturation levels. On top of that, the weather was unpredictable. The rough terrain, heat, humidity and sporadic spells of rain made the journey both challenging and exciting. We overcame all challenges and succeeded in our mission of spreading the message of peace and brotherhood — Dr PK Samantaroy, Bishop, Diocese of Amritsar, Church of North India

Organised under the leadership of Dr PK Samantaroy, Bishop, Diocese of Amritsar, Church of North India, the rally had motorcyclists from all faiths riding across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir. The rally was first received at Baring College, Batala, on its way back to Amritsar. On entering Amritsar, it passed through the Verka bypass, covering Lawrence Road, Circular Road, and Mall Road on its way to St Paul’s Church, on Court Road, before conclusion.

“The rally aimed at establishing peace, cooperation, and understanding between people of different faiths residing in India. The diocese organised interfaith dialogues along the route to spread the message of peace. The road to peace is always full of challenges,” said Bishop Samantaroy.

Samantaroy, who led the rally across some rough terrain in Jammu and Kashmir, said, “The biggest challenge that we faced was very low oxygen saturation levels. On top of that, the weather was unpredictable. The rough terrain, heat, humidity and sporadic spells of rain made the journey both challenging and exciting. God’s grace abounded on us. We overcame all challenges and succeeded in our mission of spreading the message of peace and brotherhood.”

Earlier, more than 100 men and women bikers had participated in the pre-event motorcycle rally organised by the Diocese of Amritsar and Church of North India ahead of the Seventh Interfaith “Ride for Peace” motorcycle event.
