74 test +ve, 3 fall prey to virus in Ludhiana

Seventyfour persons tested positive for Covid, while three succumbed to the virus in the district today.
Cabinet Minister, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, is also among those who tested positive today. Ashu is currently admitted to a hospital.
Those who lost their lives included two men and a woman. The total number of persons who have lost their lives to the virus in the district has now reached 852, while 20,965 have tested positive so far.
Today, 11 patients were on ventilator support.
Those who lost their lives today included an 85-year-old woman from Satguru Nagar who was admitted to the Civil Hospital and a 74-year-old man from Maan Jagraon village. A 39-year-old man from Jammu Colony, admitted to Mohan Dai Oswal Hospital, also fell prey to the virus.
Those who tested positive today included 18 persons referred from flu corners, 18 contacts of positive people and 17 referred from the OPDs. A pregnant woman, a health care worker and a severe acute respiratory infection patient also tested positive. The tracing of 18 persons is still going on.
Today, 131 persons were sent for home quarantine, while 1,174 are active home quarantined in the district.
Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Bagga appealed to the residents to follow all directions of the Punjab Government and advised people to stay indoors and move outside their homes only for essential jobs/work. Festival season is here and people need to adopt precautionary measures to stay safe, he added.
