The Higher Education Department, Chandigarh Administration, has decided to implement the 6th Punjab pay scales w.e.f, July 1, 2024, after obtaining concurrence of the Finance Department for non-teaching employees, including retirees of privately managed government aided colleges of Chandigarh in pursuance of a letter issued by the Government of Punjab dated June 26.

The Higher Education Department released grant-in-aid to seven privately managed government aided colleges of Chandigarh. The benefit will be given to around 167 non-teaching employees of these colleges (group A, B, C & D categories) having pay scales on a par with Punjab Government employees.

The Government of Punjab has also implemented revised pay scales on the recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission w.e.f. July 1, 2024. This category of employees will receive salary on enhanced rate from December 2024. The funds will be released (amounting to Rs 1.17 crore) for the period July 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, to pay enhanced pay and allowances.
