In a press note issued here, he said that the water for the scheme to be constructed at a cost of Rs 70 crore would be lifted from a battery of tube wells along the Swan river.

Agnihotri said the construction of irrigation schemes worth Rs 62 crore was underway in the Beet area of the Haroli segment, comprising 11 panchayats located in high altitude areas. He added that the Jal Shakti Department was constructing four irrigation schemes at Haroli, Pubowal, Baliwal and Nagnoli panchayats in the segment.

The Deputy Chief Minister said Rs 42 crore had been sanctioned for the construction of the Panjuana-Polian road via Kuthar Beet. Of Rs 42 crore, Rs 12.5 crore would be used to acqurie land for the road project and the remaining would be spent on the construction work. He added that the tender process had been initiated for the construction of the Gidgida Sahib-Tahliwal road via Baba Bharthari Temple at a cost of Rs 4.65 crore.

Agnihotri said old village ponds were being rejuvenated and recharged in the Haroli segment and Rs 18 crore was being spent on various water bodies. He added that Rs 2 crore each was being spent on the beautification of ponds in Pubowal and Dulehar villages.

He said to spruce up the health infrastructure in Haroli, 11 posts of medical officer had been sanctioned and the number of beds in the Civil Hospital had been increased to 100. He added that an automated vehicle testing centre would be commissioned at Rora village in the segment at a cost of Rs 5 crore. Modern vehicles would be checked there with the help of a diagnostic computer software, he added.

Agnihotri said the construction of a traffic park for Rs 8 crore, rest house at a cost of Rs 7 crore and a bus stand at Haroli to be built at a cost of Rs 6 crore was progressing at a brisk pace.
