506-gm heroin seized from border village

A joint operation by the BSF and the Punjab Police seized 506 gms of heroin lying in the fields of Ajit Singh of Dall village here on Saturday.

Preetinder Singh, DSP, Bhikhiwind, said the police received a secret information that some suspects were searching for some objectionable item in the fields of Ajit Singh. The DSP said the police party on receiving information rushed to the spot along with personnel of the 103 Battalion of BSF from Amarkot, BOP at Dall.

After opening a yellow taped packet which was seized by the police, they found the contraband in it. The Khalra police have registered a case under Sections 10, 11 and 12 of the Aircraft Act and Section 21-C of the NDPS Act. The BSF and Punjab Police conducted a joint search operation for more recovery, but nothing suspicious was found. The police are conducting intelligence and scientific investigation to find and arrest the accused involved in the illegal activity.
