50 farmers given soil health cards in Chamba village

Under the NITI Aayog’s Sampurnata campaign, the Department of Agriculture, Chamba district, organised a farmers’ awareness camp at Dulahar village, where they were informed about the benefits of soil testing.

Fifty farmers were provided soil health cards on the occasion.

Kuldeep Dhiman, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Chamba, said similar camps would be organised in other development blocks of the district, where the farmers would be educated about the importance and process of soil testing and soil health cards would be distributed to them.

He added that in 2024-25 financial year, the Agriculture Department aimed to test 4,950 soil samples from fields. So far, 2,650 samples had been tested, he added.

Dhiman emphasised that the Agriculture Department conducted free soil testing and farmers were provided with soil health cards after testing. The cards inform farmers about the appropriate type and quantity of fertiliser required to ensure a good crop yield. He urged all farmers in the district to contact their nearest agricultural office for soil testing.
