Sonepat, August 26

Five murder cases were reported in four days in Sonepat district. While a man was murdered in Baghru village after being attacked with a sharp-edged weapon on Sunday night, a youth was stabbed to death near Rathdhana village in broad daylight on Sunday. Another man was beaten to death in Sonepat on Saturday night. In addition, two murder cases were reported on Friday in the district.

In his complaint, Kuldeep Singh of Ahulana village said his brother, Sandeep, was found lying with injury marks on his body on a bench near a chaupal in the wee hours on Sunday. After receiving information from a villager, he reached there and took his brother to the Civil Hospital at Gohana, where the doctor declared him dead.

The complainant alleged that Anil and Ashwani had murdered his brother. The Baroda police then registered a case against Anil and Ashwani and arrested Ashwani, who was then produced in court, which sent him on a three-day police remand.

In another murder case, Pradeep of Rathdhana was murdered. In her complaint, his sister, Sushila, said she was living at her paternal house after the death of her husband. On Sunday, Pradeep had dropped her on the Bahalgarh road on his motorcycle, following which she went to meet her elder sister in Kathura village. After 20 minutes, she received a call that her brother was murdered near the Saffron Grand chowk. She immediately reached the spot and found his body in a pool of blood. A case was registered and the police on Monday arrested two accused, Rahul and Nitesh for the murder. The police also recovered a knife and motorcycle used in the crime and the accused will be produced in court.

In the third murder case, Naresh of Baghru village was murdered after being stabbed on the neck with a sharp-edged weapon near a liquor shop in the village. In his complaint, Naresh’s friend, Jitender, said he and Naresh were near the shop when Sombir and Dhanpat got into an argument and the two friends pacified them. After some time, Sombir came with his friends, Karambir and Dhanpat, and attacked them with broken bottles. They attacked Naresh on his neck, following which he died on the spot. The police had registered a case. On Monday, the police officials arrested Dhanpat of Baghru village. He will be produced in court on Tuesday.

Besides, Ankit, a liquor contractor, was stabbed to death in Bhigan village on Friday night in the village. The Murthal police booked Rohit and others in the case and began a probe. The police have arrested two accused, Rohit and his associate, Happy, of Bhigan and then produced them in court, which court sent them on a two-day police remand.

Apart from this, Bhagwan Dev of Bohla village was murdered on Friday late evening in Bohla village. The Mohana police have registered a case against Kaptan of the same village. The police have arrested him in the case and the court has sent him to judicial custody.

Commissioner of Police Satender Kumar Gupta said personal enmity remained the primary reason behind most of the murders.
