The police arrested five residents of Banur village in Mohali (Punjab) near Parwanoo last night after they gave counterfeit currency notes to a salesman at a petrol station after getting fuel filled in their vehicle.

According to the complaint lodged by the salesman with the police, five people were travelling in a Hyndai Accent car (CH-03K-4066) and they stopped at Chandel Filling Station for refilling around 7.30 pm yesterday. They gave the salesman currency notes of Rs 500 in payment but he found two of the notes to be counterfeit, as they had the same number.
