The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is expected to hold its first five-day session starting from November 4.

The Legislative Assembly on Tuesday issued a provisional calendar for the sittings of its first session, which is scheduled to begin with the Speaker’s election, followed by Governor’s address on November 4. The spokesperson said the November 5 session would have obituary references, and discussion on motion of thanks on Governor’s address would be held on November 6 and 7, while discussion on motion of thanks on the L-G’s address and reply thereof would be conducted on November 8.

It would be the first Assembly session to be held after the recently concluded election. Sweeping the Kashmir region, the National Conference had won 42 seats, the BJP clinched 29 seats and the Congress had to contend with six. The Assembly elections were held in J&K after 10 years and were spread over three phases.
