5 Chamba achievers honoured with Himachal Shri award
Chamba celebrated its finest at the annual function of the Himotkarsh Sahitya Sanskriti Avam Jan Kalyan Parishad. Held in the prestigious Darbar Hall of Government Medical College, the event honoured five distinguished individuals with the Himachal Shri award for their exceptional contributions.
Among the awardees were Devi Prasad Upadhyay for his tireless service to the 1,100-year-old Lakshmi Narayan temple, folk singer Piyush Raj for preserving Chamba’s rich musical heritage, and internationally acclaimed photographer Amit Vakil. Yudhveer Tandon, a National Teachers’ Award winner, and para-athlete Ajay Kumar Sharma were also recognized for their remarkable achievements.
The parishad, in its 49th year, also extended support to the community. Seven top-ranking students received scholarships, and 11 disadvantaged students were granted financial aid through the Anath Angikar Yojana.
YK Puri, the Parishad’s president, emphasis ed their commitment to serving the underprivileged without government assistance, relying on the dedication of their members and local support. Chief guest Umesh Kumar Nand, NHPC’s General Manager, lauded the Parishad’s efforts and reiterated NHPC’s dedication to social responsibility through CSR initiatives.
