5 accused in murder of gangster Goldy Brar’s brother Gurlal walk free
Chandigarh, March 1
Chandigarh Additional Session Judge Jaibir Singh has acquitted five accused in the three-year-old murder case of Gurlal Singh Brar, the brother of gangster Goldy Brar.
Gurlal Brar was killed alleged by members of Davinder Bambiha gang in front of main gate of the City Emporium Mall in Industrial Area on October 10, 2020.
The accused acquitted were Gurvinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Chamkor Singh and Neeraj Gupta.
The police registered a case on a statement of driver Vikas who told the police that on the night of October 10, 2020, he saw two people carrying pistols in their hands came on foot from Centra Mall side and started firing upon the person sitting in a car parked outside City Emporium. He said after firing 6-7 shots, they walked ahead and fled on a motorcycle.
During the investigation, the police arrested all the accused and filed a charge sheet against four accused initially for the offences punishable under Section 302 of IPC. Later, the police filed supplementary charge sheet against Neeraj Gupta, who was arrested by the Punjab Police from Jammu last year. The police claimed that Gupta was the alleged main shooter of Bambiha gang.
Mandeep Kumarand Gurbir Singh Sandhu, counsels of the accused, argued before the court that the accused were falsely implicated in the case. They argued that the main prosecution witness Vikas had failed to identify the alleged shooter arrested by the police.
They said another witness a woman, who happens to be a friend of the deceased, also did not support the prosecution version. On the other hand, the public prosecutor argued that the prosecution has proved the case beyond a shadow of doubt.
After hearing of the arguments, the court acquitted all the accused.
