4,038 MT paddy arrives in Jalandhar grain markets
On Wednesday, 4,038 metric tonnes (MT) of paddy arrived across mandis in Jalandhar district. With this, the total arrival for this season has reached 13,932 MT; while 8436 MT paddy has been procured in Jalandhar.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal recently said that 11.20 lakh metric tonne paddy was expected to arrive across 79 purchase centres in the district in this season. He had added that elaborate arrangements had been made to procure every single grain.
Aggarwal had said that timely lifting and payment would also be ensured, and any kind of delay in this task would be highly unwarranted. The DC added that the officials had made arrangements to ensure the availability of potable water, cleanliness, tarpaulins, etc.
He directed the officials to leave no stone unturned to ensure timely payments to farmers. There was sufficient availability of Bardana in Mandis, which would lead towards a hassle-free season for farmers, he added.
