4-yr-old child crushed to death by bus

Rishabh, a four-year-old boy, was crushed to death by a bus. The inconsolable mother of the child said she had gone to meet her relatives at Bachan Market on Baloke Road.

When the victim was playing with other children near a scooter, a bus hit the two-wheeler and the child. He fell down and his head got crushed under a tyre of the vehicle. People started screaming to save the victim while the driver of the vehicle tried to flee the scene. But was caught by them.

Nisha, the mother of the boy, said Rishabh was born after seven years of her marriage and he was their only child. Later, the Haibowal police reached the scene.

The victim’s kin, natives of Bihar, reside in the Block E of Rishi Nagar. The police have registered a case against the bus driver and the vehicle is taken into police custody.

Woman dies in mishap

An unknown vehicle hit two women on Wednesday night when they were trying to cross a road at Jalandhar Bypass near Greenland School.

The speeding vehicle hit the duo, following which they fell on the road. Balbir Kaur, a resident of Jassian village, died on the spot while Reena Devi was critically injured in the hit-and-run incident. Passers-by reported the matter to the police and both of them were taken to the Civil Hospital.

SI Kashmir Singh from the Salem Tabri police station said the Civil Hospital referred the injured woman to a private hospital. A case has been registered against the unidentified driver of the speeding vehicle.
