4 bodies recovered in past 2 weeks from Abohar canals

Four unidentified bodies have been recovered from different canals in Abohar subdivision of Fazilka district during last two weeks.
The bodies coming with flowing water in various canals from other areas often used to stick at the tail end of the canals.
For example, decomposed body of a woman was recovered from Lambi minor canal between the area of Waryam Khera and Sher Garh villages on June 24. The woman was wearing a locket with “Vani” mentioned on it.
Similarly, a decomposed body of a person with both the legs cut off was also found from Malookpura minor canal few days back.
In another incident, body of a sadhu (saint) was recovered from a kiosk in Thakar Abadi locality near railway crossing in the town. An ear of the sadhu was missing.
Besides, the body of 25-year-old person was also found in Pattrewala minor canal four days ago.
The unclaimed and unidentified bodies of these persons were kept in mortuary of Abohar Civil Hospital for identification for three days but none came forward to take possession of the bodies.
Ultimately, the bodies were handed over to activists of Abohar NGO Nar Sewa Narayan Sewa. The NGO President Raju Charaya along with Parvesh Dhingra, Sonu Sharma, Prem Narula, Ravi Kumar, Bittu Narula, Kamal Khan and others performed the last rites of the deceased.
Charaya said that post-cremation rituals were also performed by their organisation. The NGO members demanded that the administration should conduct in-depth and thorough investigation behind the incidents.
