36 participate in 2nd Bike and Run event in Shimla
The Cycling Association of Himachal Pradesh yesterday organised the second edition of the Bike and Run event on the picturesque trails of Potters Hill in the state’s capital, drawing in 36 enthusiastic participants, including four girls. The competition featured under-16, above-16 and open categories.
The event kicked off at the Potters Hill arboretum, where participants gathered to celebrate their love for cycling and running.
Athletes navigated the scenic trails, enjoying the stunning views of the city’s landscapes, while competing for top honours in their respective age categories.
The races were highly competitive, with participants demonstrating remarkable skill and determination.
The event also fostered camaraderie among athletes, promoting sportsmanship and community spirit.
Saharsh from Fagu stood first in the under-16 (boys’) cycling event, while Ashish Sherpa from Shoghi won the above-16 (boys’) cycling event. Shimla’s Divija Sood stood first in the girls’ (open) cycling event. Divija also stood first in girls’ (open) running category, while Shimla’s Yugal Thakur emerged as the winner in the boys’ (open) running category. The top finishers in each category were awarded cash prizes exciting goodies.
“We are thrilled with the turnout and the enthusiasm displayed by all participants,” said Gaurav Negi, Secretary, Shimla Cycling Association. “This event not only highlights the talent within our community but also encourages more people to engage in outdoor sports and fitness activities.”
