36 cases against Lawrence Bishnoi in 12 years, convicted in six

The police have prepared a database of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his Canada-based aide Satinderjeet Singh, alias Goldy Brar, after the latter reportedly claimed responsibility for Sidhu Moosewala’s murder.
As per the dossier of criminal cases prepared by the police here, while Bishnoi has been involved in as many as 36 cases in the past 12 years, Brar has been nominated as an accused in eight cases in the past 18 months.
As per the database, Bishnoi entered the crime world in April 2010 when he was booked by Chandigarh and Mohali police in three criminal cases for attempted murder, possessing firearms and causing hurt. While he was acquitted in two cases lodged by the Chandigarh Police in April 2010, he was convicted in the third case registered by the Mohali police in October 2010.
Of the 36 criminal cases against him in Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi, 21 are sub judice, while he has been acquitted in nine and convicted in six cases.
In Punjab, Bishnoi had 17 criminal cases against him, including six in his home district Fazilka, seven in Mohali, two in Faridkot and one case each at Amritsar and Muktsar. As per the records, he faced seven criminal cases in Chandigarh, six in Rajasthan, four in Delhi and two cases in Haryana.
Lately, Bishnoi was booked by the Jaipur police on September 10, 2021, for extortion and issuing threats.
In the records, Bishnoi has been profiled as a resident of Duttarwali, Fazilka, and a notorious gangster active in Punjab and neighbouring states. He is involved in cases of murder, contract killing, robbery, extortion and snatching.
His main associates are Goldy Brar (Canada), Sampat Nehra (lodged in Tihar Jail), Deepak Tinu (jailed), Raju Basodi (jailed), Kali Rajput, Kala Jatheri (Tihar Jail), claimed the police. Bishnoi is a former president of the Students’ Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU).
According to the database, Goldy Brar had eight criminal cases registered against him in Faridkot district since November 2020 when he was first booked for attempted murder. He was also allegedly involvement in the killing of Congress leader Gurlal Singh Pehalwan of Faridkot on February 18, 2021.
In the six other cases, Brar was booked for attempted murder, supply of firearms and extortion. The latest case against him in Faridkot was registered on April 7, 2022, for murder bid and supply of firearms.
