351 worshipped on Internat’l Day of Girl Child
The Unesco International Day of Girl Child was celebrated yesterday by worshipping 351 girls at Navbharat Public School organised by Mother Mary Charity Home Foundation, an NGO, devoted to social service for the last 20 years.
The NGO is headed by philanthropist Dr Anil Aggarwal, who was also the chief guest on this occasion.
Former Mayor Madan Chauhan, Virender Tyagi and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
After performing puja, Dr Anil Aggarwal touched the feet of 351 girls and sought their blessings. Dr Aggarwal said this was a very pleasant coincidence that ‘kanya pujan ashtami of Navratras and International Day of Girl Child were being celebrated on the same day.“Although, the theme of celebration of International Day of Girl Child is to ensure access to quality education and living with dignity and the aim of ‘kanya pujan’ is to seek the blessings from the girl child who is considered as a form of Goddess Durga, yet the girls are considered inferior to boys in our country,” said Dr Aggarwal.
