Sirsa: 34K beneficiaries fail to take ‘Happy Cards’

Despite requests from officials, there has been a lack of enthusiasm among residents to collect their ‘Happy Cards’ from the Sirsa Depot. Over the past month, only 17,000 beneficiaries have picked up their cards, leaving 34,877 unclaimed.

- The Haryana Government introduced Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana (HAPPY) to provide free travel of up to 1,000 km on state roadways buses for families with an annual income of Rs 1,00,000 or lesser. As part of this initiative, 51,877 cards were sent to the Sirsa Depot for distribution. However, the response has been poor.

The Roadways Department has repeatedly urged beneficiaries to activate and collect their cards to avail themselves of the scheme’s benefits. To expedite the process, additional staff and multiple counters have been set up at the depot to facilitate quick activation and distribution of these cards.
Beneficiaries from Dabwali can now collect their cards from the Dabwali sub-depot to avoid unnecessary travel to Sirsa. Of the 9,687 cards allocated to Dabwali, 5,948 have been distributed.
Sirsa Depot General Manager Navneet Singh encouraged those who had received OTPs to visit the depot and collect their cards. Rakesh Kumar, incharge of the distribution process, confirmed that separate counters had been set up at the bus stand to assist beneficiaries in collecting their cards efficiently.
