32 cameras installed in district

With the installation of 32 automatic number plate detection and recording (ANPR) cameras in the city, Senior Superintendent of Police Satinder Singh launched the Safe Mohali Project here today.
The cameras have been installed at 16 locations covering about 18-km stretch falling under the Phase 1 and Mataur police stations.
“This is an artificial intelligence-based video surveillance system. Installation of as many as 200 similar cameras is in progress at the Kharar and Zirakpur subdivisions at a cost of over Rs2 crore. It will be completed by January 15,” he said.
The cameras can automatically capture a number plate, identify the digits and record them with historical information of location and time.
