315 PDS shops providing food to over 5 lakh people, says Hamirpur DC

As many as 315 shops under the Public Distribution System (PDS) are providing food to 5,41,019 people in the district and some migrant labourers.

This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh here on Wednesday while addressing a meeting of the Food Supply Department and Ration Depot holders.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the Food Supply Department and Ration Depot holders must ensure 100 percent e-KYC of consumers and provide digital payment facility at the fair price shops.

He said that 85 per cent of the ration card users in the district had been registered on the e-KYC. He said that consumers living outside the district would come home during Diwali and their KYC could be completed during this time.

He said that depot holders should now also make arrangement for digital payments. He added that depot holders, who adopt digital payments, would be rewarded by the administration.

The DC said there were 1,51,649 ration card holders in the district. He said that ration cards would be provided to migrant workers registered on the e-shram portal as per the directions of the Supreme Court. So far, 310 ration cards of such migrant workers were made in the district.

District Food Supply Controller Arvind Sharma presented a detailed description of various issues. Zilla Parishad president Babli Devi and other members of the committee were also present on this occasion.
