Rs 30 cr power infra works kick off in Kharar city
The electricity infrastructure upgrade work worth Rs 30 crore in Kharar city kicked off today. Inaugurating an enhanced capacity grid of 66 kV at Sunny Enclave whose 40 MVA transformers have been augmented to 63 MVA capacity, Kharar MLA Anmol Gagan Mann said projects worth Rs 30 Crore in the Kharar city area will provide uninterrupted power supply to residents. The grid augmentation project has been completed at a cost of Rs 7.6 crore. The enhanced capacity would meet the increasing demand of supply to ensure commitment to serving the consumers in a better way.
Apart from that, every colony would have 2-3 additional transformers to upgrade the existing electricity infrastructure. The project would be completed at a cost of Rs 20 crore. Growing urbanisation in Kharar has increased the consumption of power and thereby need for increased infrastructure.
There is a proposal to build a new 66 kV grid in the Chhaju Majra area which will be commissioned in the next few months. Similarly, the work to replace the 66 kV line from Mohali to 66 kV Sunny Enclave with enhanced capacity is also underway. Apart from that, two new transformers have also been installed at 220 kV grid, Kharar, to improve the performance of the grid. This work has been undertaken at a cost of Rs 4 crore.
