Patiala, July 27

A day after a health worker was beaten by employees of Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC), Patiala police have booked PRTC sub-inspector Sarabjeet Singh and bus conductors Sukhdev Singh and Vinod Kumar. They have been booked under Sections 323, 341, 160 and 34 of the IPC.

The accused had beaten a health worker following an altercation over the space for setting up a Covid vaccination booth at the bus stand here.

Condemning the incident, Punjab Civil Medical Services (PCMS) Association stated it was very disheartening and demotivating for the entire Health Department. To witness such hostile environment, while working for the sake of public health doesn’t augur well, the association stated.

The association also questioned as to how a public servant on duty was deterred from discharging his duty. Demanding strict action, PCMS Association said they will extend full support to the staff in such a situation and would assist them to get justice.

The association also demanded proper security arrangement for all health staff on duty for safe working environment.
