3 of family killed, 2 injured as car collides with pick-up van

Following a head-on collision between a pick-up van and a car on the Bharatmala project highway, a man, his son and nephew travelling in the car died on Saturday. The van driver, Karni Singh, and a boy were injured. The horrific collision took place near the bus stand of Chak 15-A village.

Police officials said the five occupants of the car were going to express their condolences over the demise of a relative.

In the accident, Prabhu Ram Sokhal (40), his father Om Prakash Sokhal (65), Prabhu’s cousin Balbir (45), nephew Prashant (12) and another relative were travelling in the car.

Among them, Prabhu Ram, Om Prakash and Balbir died on the spot. The bodies of the three deceased trapped in the car were taken out after great difficulty. The deceased were identified through a mobile phone call.

According to the information, Prabhu Ram was driving the car. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the police reached the spot. The vehicles collided in an overtaking attempt.

The front portion of the car was almost damaged.

Injured Prashant and Karni Singh were referred to higher medical facilities after first-aid. After registering a case, the police conducted a post-mortem examination of the dead bodies. The bodies of the three victims were cremated this evening.
