With the arrest of three persons, the Panipat police have claimed to have busted a gang allegedly involved in duping people in lieu of making investments on a fake stock trading app. The accused duped a Panipat doctor of Rs 60 lakh.

DSP Satish Vats at a press conference held on Wednesday said the accused arrested has been identified as Manish Sinha of Pune in Maharashtra, Rahul Saksena of Aurangabad and Manoj of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.

DSP Vats said Dr Praveen P Kotwani in his complaint to the cybercrime cell that he was working at Indian Oil Corporation Limited through Dr Prem Hospital since July 2023.

Dr Kotwani in his complaint said t he clicked on the link of stock pull up group on facebook and instagram and it took him to a whatsapp group with a name of Goldman stocks India Equity exchange group 207.

Where Jai Sahni and Ragini Singh were giving training for e-trading. They also began trading and they regularly received big tasks after showing a good profit, the complainant said.

After investigating Rs 36 lakh they tried to withdraw their amount but their claim process got rejected, he said.

After depositing Rs 60 lakh they blocked his ID. Following his complaint a case was registered at the cyber police station and the team began investigation into the matter.

DSP Vats further said t the cyber team nabbed Rahul and Manoj from Mathura on November 30 and took them on two days police remand. After that the team nabbed Manish Singh from Faridabad on Tuesday evening.

During the investigation it came to the fore that Rahul Saksena came in contact with Manish Sinha through facebook, he added.

DSP Vats said a total 29 debit cards, 19 cheque books, one tab, one laptop and a mobile phone was recovered from Manish Sinha’s possession and produced him in the court and took him on one-day police remand.
