Three nurses of the Health Department were found guilty of negligence during the delivery of a new born child in the civil hospital. They have been issued a notice of termination of their service from the department.

CMO Dr Ashok Kumar said that the action comes after an inquiry report was submitted by a departmental committee appointed by the district administration in response to a complaint lodged by the kin of the patient. He said negligence on the part of the nurses working on contractual basis under the National Health Mission (NHM) had failed to do their work properly which led to inept handling of the patient which resulted in miscarriage and death of the unborn baby, with the patient suffering injuries in her uterus. The patient’s life was saved due to timely intervention of the doctors of the department. It was alleged that the accused staff did not cooperate with the patient and failed to report the matter to the concerned doctor regarding the safe delivery of the unborn child.

All the three staff nurses have been issued a notice of one month after being found guilty of negligence, the official said.
