3 more test positive for Covid; 2 from Ladakh, 1 Tamil Nadu

Two cases from Ladakh and one from Tamil Nadu today tested positive for Covid-19 taking India’s total count of infected persons to 34.
The two cases from Ladakh have travel history to Iran and one from Tamil Nadu has returned from Oman.

“With these new cases, the total number of cases are now 34 in the country. 31 cases are being treated in hospitals and are stable. Whereas the earlier three from Kerala have been discharged,” the Health Ministry said in its update today.
The ministry said it has traced over 150 contacts of the American national in Bhutan with a travel history to India from February 21 to March 1. All these contacts more have been put under Integrated Disease Surveillance programme.
In addition, 108 samples from Indian nationals have been received from Iran today morning and are being tested at the laboratory in AIIMS subject to further confirmation from NIV Pune.
Six scientists from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) have been stationed in Iran. Equipment and reagents, worth approximately Rs 10 crore, have been dispatched to enable them to setup a lab there and pre-test Indians before they can be evacuated. A total of 7,26,122 from 7,108 flights have been screened at airports.
Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi held a review meet on Covid today where it was informed that 52 laboratories are now operational across the country for testing the virus. An additional 57 labs have been provided with the facility for sample collection. He directed officials to identify places for sufficient quarantine facilities and make provisions for critical care.
DSGMC to distribute 10,000 masks for free At Gurdwaras
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has decided to distribute free protective masks in the national capital. Its president Manjinder Singh Sirsa said initially, 10,000 masks would be distributed among gurdwaras. On March 8, the masks would be distributed at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib.
Kuwait suspends flights from India
Kuwait on Saturday suspended operations of all flights to and from India and six other countries in the wake of Covid outbreak. The General Administration of Civil Administration has issued a circular to airlines operating at the Kuwait International Airport in this regard.
Swabs of 100 Indians brought from Iran
More than 100 swab samples of Indians in Iran who are suspected of having Covid-19 infection were brought to the National Capital on Saturday in a flight, which returned to Tehran carrying 200 Iranians.
