The Delhi Police arrested three burglars from the Mewat region who targeted mobile shops in Delhi, recovering 99 mobile phones.

The accused were involved in a night burglary at a mobile showroom in Mahipalpur, during which 99 mobile phones worth Rs 35 lakh were stolen. The arrested include the gang leader, Hayat, alias Lambu (20), and two accomplices, Iklas, alias Lilu (26) and Manish Khan (26). All three are residents of Salaheri village in Nuh district, Haryana. The police also recovered the car used in the crime.

On the night of September 23-24, the burglars targeted a mobile shop, Khushi Communication, in Mahipalpur. “The thieves made off with mobile phones and accessories worth Rs 40 lakh by cutting through the showroom’s shutter,” a police official said.

A case was registered at Vasant Kunj North police station. Upon analysing the CCTV footage, the police identified three masked individuals fleeing the crime scene in a white Maruti Swift car. The car was later found to be using a fake registration number. The footage revealed the expertise and speed with which the burglars executed the crime, indicating the involvement of a professional gang, the official added. “After a five-day operation, two members of the gang, Iklas and Manish Khan, were arrested, and 30 mobile phones along with the car were recovered from them,” the official stated.

Further raids led to the gang leader, Hayat, surrendering in the Nuh court. He was arrested, and 57 more mobile phones were recovered from him.
