Abohar, July 3

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) wing has arrested three persons for providing confidential information related to the Indian Army to Pakistan spy agency — Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The police arrested Ram Singh in Ratangarh, Nitin Yadav in Sriganganagar and Abdul Sattar in Hanumangarh.

The police said Yadav was honey-trapped by a girl named Gurnoor on social media. He used to work as a vegetable vendor and shared information related to military activities in Suratgarh cantonment. In return, the girl deposited Rs 5,000 thrice in his bank account.

The police said Abdul had gone to Pakistan in 2010. Since then, he was working as an agent of the ISI. During interrogation, Abdul reportedly admitted that during his visit to Pakistan, he was lured to provide information related to the Indian Armed Forces.

Ram was also in touch with the Pakistan intelligence agency. During interrogation, Ram admitted that he had shared photos and videos of border outposts with his handler for which he had received money.

Important data has been found stored in mobile phones of the trio. A case has been registered against the accused under the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
