3-day meet on 'Emerging Materials and Quantum Photonics' begins at Hisar varsity
A three-day international conference on 'Emerging Materials and Quantum Photonics' (ICEMQP-2024), organised by the Department of Physics at Chaudhary Ranbir Singh Auditorium in Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, started today.
Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Central University Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh, was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. Prof Narsi Ram Bishnoi, Vice-Chancellor of the Hisar university, presided over the function. Prof SM Yusuf, Scientist, Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Mumbai, was the keynote speaker.
Prof Tankeshwar Kumar said in his address that there are immense possibilities of research and employment in emerging materials and quantum photonics. Both these technologies are developing rapidly and are directly affecting every sphere of life. He said technological changes occur due to materials and quantum photonics. “It has both positive and negative aspects. Scientists should work on its positive aspects,” he said, adding that along with discovering technology and energy, its transport and communication was also necessary so that it could adequately benefit human development. He expressed confidence that this conference would prove to be a milestone in this direction.
Prof Narsi Ram Bishnoi said that quantum photonics was a revolutionary gift of the present era. It had affected every aspect of life along with the industrial sector. "This technology has a central role, especially in health, energy and related fields.
Prof SM Yusuf gave his lecture on Quantum Entanglement of Spins and its Relevance in Quantum Technology. He explained in detail about the basic quantum principles. He informed that the Government of India is working to promote quantum technology under the National Quantum Mission. For this mission, the Union Cabinet has approved a budget of Rs 6003.65 crore from 2023-24 to 2030-31. He talked about the qubit formation which plays an inevitable role in quantum computers, he said.
Prof Ashish Agarwal, Chairman, Department of Physics, informed that there would be 15 technical sessions in the conference. As many as 17 subject experts from India and five from abroad will address 150 participants.
