Indira Gandhi University (IGU) at Meerpur village here will organise its seventh youth festival ‘Hindola’ from November 14 to 16. Finishing touches to the event was given on Wednesday.

Prof JP Yadav, Vice-Chancellor, IGU, said around 2,000 students from various 40 colleges affiliated to the IGU would show their talent in 44 events under five categories i.e. music, theater, dance, fine arts and literary group.

“We have included the Qawwali event in the youth festival for the first time. Last year too, the ritual event was made part of the event to show and promote traditional Haryanvi culture and traditions such as bhaat, chhuchhak etc.,” said the VC.

Yadav said a meeting of all event incharges of all colleges were organised to allot them codes and issue other necessary instructions. Prize distribution will be held on November 16. The event will be organised by the department of students welfare, he added.

The students of various teaching departments of the IGU did their final rehearsal.

Meanwhile, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the IGU and Swadeshi Shodh Sansthan, New Delhi, for cooperation in academic activities, exchange of faculties, conferences, seminars, research etc. Yadav and Registrar Prof Tej Singh exchanged the MoU in the presence of consultant Suresh Gupta from Swadeshi Shodh Sansthan, New Delhi.

“With such an MoU, both students and researchers will get the benefit of learning research work through modern technology. The main objective of the MoU is to enhance positive skills in students and researchers so they can know the processes of new technical research in detail. We should feel very proud of the university being associated with various educational institutions,” said the VC.

The Registrar said through the MoU, the IGU teaching faculty and Swadeshi Shodh Sansthani would be able to get the benefit of all activities by mutually cooperating with each other in various academic activities and research processes and conferences, seminars etc.
