29 Delhi cops to receive medals on Republic Day

Twenty-nine officials of the Delhi Police will be conferred with medals on Republic Day for their services.
Late Assistant Sub-Inspector Shambhu Dayal Meena will be posthumously conferred with the Police Medal for Gallantry. On January 4 last year, Meena was deputed on call in the Mayapuri area, where a woman had called the police stating that her husband’s phone was robbed and they were being threatened.
When he reached the spot, the complainant identified the accused and Meena overpowered him. The 24-year-old accused was being taken to the Mayapuri police station when the accused suddenly took out a pocket knife from his shirt and stabbed the police official multiple times.
Despite several injuries, Meena didn’t let the criminal escape till the necessary support team reached the spot. He was admitted to DDU Hospital and later shifted to BL Kapoor Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on January 8.
Gallantry Medals will be conferred on Inspector (Executive) Manmeet Malik, ASI (Executive) Rajeev Kumar, ACP Rahul Vikram, Inspector (Executive) Vikram Dahiya, Inspector (Executive) Vinay Pal, SI (Executive) Mohd Akmal Khan, HC (Executive) Sikander Khan and Inspector (Executive) Vikram Sangwan.
ACP Rahul Vikram and Inspector Vikram Dahiya nabbed a notorious gangster of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Deepak Kumar alias Tinu, who had escaped from the custody of the Central Investigation Agency (CIA) of Mansa (Punjab) while he was on police remand in connection with the murder of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
After locating the house, where Tinu was believed to be hiding, the team conducted a raid. However, Tinu attempted to attack the police team with a hand grenade as they barged into the room. He had taken one of the five available grenades in his hand and was about to pull out the safety pin. They physically overpowered the accused and neutralised the threat.
President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) will be given to Lalit Mohan Negi, ACP; Hridaya Bhushan, ACP; Ishwar Singh SI (Executive/Foreign).
Medal for Meritorious Service will be conferred on Manishi Chandra, DCP; Vinit Kumar, DCP; Arvind Kumar, ACP; Brahmjeet Singh, ACP; Ranbir Singh, ACP; Kusum Sharma, ACP; and Meenaxi, ACP.
Inspector (Executive) Ashok Kumar, Inspector (Steno) Khurshid Ali, Inspector (Traffic) Lakhan Singh, Inspector (Computers) Rajeev Shrivastava, Inspector (Fingerprint Bureau) Narender Singh, Inspector (Ministerial) Vinod Kumar Gaur, SI (Radio Technician) P Lal Ji, SI (Executive) Rakesh Kumar Sharma, ASI (Executive) Bharat Singh and ASI (Executive) Iqbal Singh will also be conferred with Medal for Meritorious Service.
