A speeding car mowed down a 27-year-old man at Gidderanwali village on Abohar-Sriganganagar Road last night.

The deceased has been identified as Deepu.

Members of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the deceased’s family reached the spot and raised slogans against the management of the toll plaza and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for not installing adequate streetlights.

The police said the body had been kept at the

Civil Hospital.

In a separate incident, a speeding car first hit the divider on Abohar-Seetogunno Road and before the car occupants could get out of the vehicle, a tipper rammed into it.

Harman Singh of Bahawalbasi, his father Gurmeet Singh and grandfather Sardul Singh were heading towards Abohar when the accident took place.

All three car occupants admitted to the Abohar Civil Hospital by the passersby were undergoing treatment, said the police.
