Dhaliwal said the Ajnala rural belt had been ignored for the past many decades by subsequent governments. He said during the past two-and-half-year of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government rule in Punjab, various projects for the development of the area had been initiated.

The minister claimed that all public works, including paving of streets, installing streetlights and CCTV cameras, were being undertaken so that residents could get better civic amenities.
